i agree that emo isn’t a style, someone should have thought up a different name for people dressing in dark clothes and shit. Not emo. Emo people are people who have been through a lot, but they can also just be depressed and not know why. Being depressed is a very hard thing to go through and no one understands you when it’s happening. It isn’t fair to say that “emo people” are stupid and annoying because the people saying this are most likely insecure about themselves and won’t admit that they probobly have cut themselves before. Just because your a foster kid who had lost your parents (which is very sad) doesn’t mean you will cut yourself. Everyone has their own ways of dealing with things, and to the girl who said that obviously doesn’t understand depression, and feeling like that’s the only thing to turn to. I have been through a lot these past three years, and sometimes i feel like theirs no way out, but cutting youself is not for attention unless you tell people on this site that your doing it. When you tell a whole bunch of random people i’m sorry but obviously that’s what your looking for. When you do it by yourself and never tell anyone, you are hurting, and yes you cry so you are emotional, but i think labelling someone as “emo” is insulting. Some people do go through EXTREMELY hard times, and making fun of them is not going to help make it go away.

Understand this EMO has been around years before anyone of you were born. EMO’s origins are from 80’s hairbands, British goths, and Japanese performers. Ten years ago if you were to use the term in highschool no one would know what the fuck you were talking about. Now, I am NOT emo! I am emo. It’s a fcking style, they just gave it a name. Someone can wear normal clothes and have normal hair and still cut themselves. I knew someone like that. So you may like the style yet still cut.
